JUST GET OUT AND VOTE!!

Tomorrow is election day, the day I have waited for with great anticipation for 4, no wait, make that 8 years!! I really thought 4 years ago our intelligent, well researched citizens of this great country would never dream of re-electing W for another 4 years, but alas!! They did!! Well, sort of.... Anyway, here we are, one day from electing a NEW president!! Whether you vote for Obama (Ba-rock-star, as Taylor calls him) or John McCain at least VOTE!! That is, if you have not already done so, in which case it sounds like you may have waited in line for WAY longer than if you had just done like me and the other 62% of voters, and actually voted on ELECTION DAY!! Personally, early voting is kinda like opening your Christmas presents early, or celebrating Thanksgiving day a week prior, it's just not the same. For me, it has to be election day.  And if you live in Utah, there is no way your vote will make any difference whatsoever, since it will be 75% for fill-in-the-blank-it-doesn't-matter-who Republican, but dammit, I will be the first in line anyway!!!

Goodmourning...

No, it is not a typo, I am officially in mourning, although I do feel the fog lifting.  My beloved Red Sox came within two runs of being in the World Series.  Two runs!!! But alas, it was not to be!  No Papelbon step dancing, no Papi spraying champagne while wearing those silly goggles, no getting to watch Youk's beard grow and grow and grow, none of that. Instead we get to watch (or not!) the Tampa Bay Rays fans (who?) shake their stupid little cowbells all over Philly. These, the same fans, all 12 of them, who actually went to a regular season game.  Who probably never even had a real Philly cheese steak! Who probably don't know the difference between a suicide squeeze play and a double play! These idiots!! Well, that's OK, there's always next year.  And last year...  And 2004...  And 1918....
GO PHILLIES!!!

WALKING IN THE WINTER WONDERLAND!!

OK, it's official!  Summer is O V E R.  Proof of that is the 4 inches of snow we got overnight.  Woke up this morning, looked out the window, and in the words of Taylor, "HOLY CRAP@"%""  The snow is here. I am sure it will be gone by tonight, although it is still snowing, but boy is it fun!! The kids are outside playing in it as we speak, and yearning for their hot chocolate with whipped cream.  They're starting their Christmas lists later on this afternoon.  Then they want to decorate the house and get the tree.
...how many days till Spring??

BACK FROM BLOG-PURGATORY

Apparently my blog was "flagged" by the blog-monsters, or whatever the people in charge are called. They thought it was spam (isn't that the crappy stuff Mom used to make us eat for lunch every FREAKING day at Catholic school, mixed with relish??? Blech!!).  I read it again and the only thing I saw in there that might have been slightly inappropriate was the word "boobs" which, frankly, mine are slightly inappropriate, but I won't delve into that any further... .Anyway, I guess I am "technologically challenged" and still getting used to the whole blogging, facebook, way of life. Does that make me old??  Or is it the sagging arm fat or the fact that I can't read a text without holding my phone 6 feet from my eyes that signals that I am old?? Hey, at least I can text....

My first Blog!!

Ok, if Marybeth can do it, I guess I can do.
Welcome to the Erickson blog.  I probably have literally nothing funny to say, unfortunately in my family I was not the one blessed with a sense of humor (or a singing voice, or big boobs, or virtually any other virtue...)

For my first post I want to share Kallie's Birthday poem for me:

A POEM ABOUT UR B-DAY
It's your birthday, so here's to you
I hope you don't think that it smells like poo
You're my mother and you're out of sight
and now you're 22, isn't that right??

The Ericksons consist of me, Joan, (photos to follow) my studmuffin husband Dave, (photos to follow) and our two gorgeous children, Taylor, 14, and Kallie, 12 (MANY photos to follow).  And to add to the confusion, we have three cats, Shamika, Wandery, and our adopted cousin cat Riley, two rabbits, Sam (the girl rabbit) and Dot (the boy rabbit) and I am pretty sure all our other pets are dead, but if you come to our house and see a small turtle crawling around, please let me know.  Plus we generally have about 2 - 8 14 year old boys running around, and another 5 -7 12 year old girls here, so you can imagine the teenager angst, plus the noise.  Hopefully I will occasionally share funny stories about them, because, honestly, I am not funny.
So, in closing, GO RED SOX!!
